GENERAL

The great ski areas of les Arcs and la Plagne are now linked by the Vanoise Express cable car to form the Paradiski ski area with Peisey Vallandry as the hub. A huge diversity of skiing is available with something for every standard, extensive snowboard facilities and even 30km of cross country trails in Bourg St Maurice. This gives direct access to over 625km of marked pistes from 1200 to 3250m including the 2000m drop Aiguille Rouge piste, snowparks, and a huge extent of off piste skiing.

As well as skiing in Les Arcs there is the opportunity of skiing in La Rosière and down into Italy for one or more days. A frre shuttle service runs from the village of Hauteville to the bottom of the funiculaire for Les Arcs or you can change to another free shuttle to take you to the bottom lift of the La Rosière/La Thuile complex.

For non skiers there are also very good options either in the valley or in the resorts for walks on snow shoes.

Lift passes vary from a simple half day pass for the Peisey Valladry area to a pass covering all the resorts in the Tarentaise - the 3 Vallées, Val d'Isère/Tignes, La Plagne, La Rosière (linked to La Thuile in Italy) and Ste.Foy.

For younger skiers there is a creche with organised games and introduction to skiing in the snow 'garden'. For older beginners, there are long green and blue pistes through the woods from the Poudreuse mountain restaurant right back to the village. There is an excellent ski school with English speaking instructors with group and individual lessons.

Cross country skiing is provided for in the picturesque Nancroix valley. Just below the chalet in the Isere valley from the bridge at the canoeing base or from the fields below the chalet a marked piste to Bourg-St-Mauric or down to Landry and Aime 24 Km.
